Road Trip!

Hey, I'm sorry we haven't blogged in a while we've all just been so busy! So here is a post I was meant to write back in April (I know it was ages ago!)

Over the Easter holidays my family (minus Charlotte) and I set of on a Californian road-trip. I was so excited, as California was a place that I had never visited before, as when we go to America it is always to Florida.

We flew from Heathrow to San Francisco. The first day was spent feeling extremely jet lagged due to the 8 hour time difference! So we were up & out early ready to do some sight-seeing. First stop was Alcatraz island. We caught the ferry across and was given headsets to listen to and walk around, taking in our surroundings. It was very interesting but kind of creepy at the same time! Next we made use of the city's hop on hop off sight seeing buses. It took us right over The Golden Gate Bridge, which had amazing views but was extremely windy & cold! The next day it was raining so we took this opportunity to look around the aquarium.

Our next stop was Monterey. We got in our hire car early the next morning and started our journey and got there in just under 2 hours. We were only in Monterey for one night so as soon as we got there we checked into our hotel and then drove to Carmel, a nearby town, which was beautiful. We had some lunch and then headed back to the hotel for dinner later on.

Now it was time for the longest journey on our trip. We were heading to Santa Monica. It was about a 6 hour drive. We were about 2 hours from our destination and we broke down, literally in the middle of nowhere! To cut a long story short we had to get a cab for the remaining 2 hours and eventually we arrived at our hotel, much later then we had intended! The next day, we were minus a car but we didn't let that spoil our time in Santa Monica. We had booked a tour around the Warner Brothers studios for the morning. This was actually the thing that I was most looking forward to doing in the whole trip as I am a huge Pretty Little Liars fan and this is where it is filmed. After buying some PLL merch, it was time for our tour. Each of the tours were with tour guides who took us around the lot in a golf buggy. We got to see many different sets including 'Central Perk' from Friends. We spent the rest of the day on an open top tour bus around LA. We picked the bus up in Hollywood, after we had a walk down the Walk of Fame. We saw Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills and the Hollywood sign (from a distance)! The next day it was time to leave LA. However before we left we took a walk down to Santa Monica pier as it was only a few minutes from where we were staying.

Next up was San Diego. Unfortunately I was ill for the first day and spent the whole day in bed. However the next day I was feeling a bit better, therefore I didn't want to waste another day in bed so we decided to go to San Diego zoo. It was an amazing zoo and we saw many animals as well as going on the 'skyfari'.

Lastly it was time to get some sun! We drove to Phoenix, Arizona, this was the relaxing part of our holiday. We spent a week in Arizona just chilling around the pool as well as shopping! Just what was needed after a long trip of driving and sight seeing!
