What I Wore

The blogs I enjoy reading most are often the ones that do regular 'what I wore' posts. This is something I think I'll try to do a little more regularly. Monday to Friday I dress pretty boring, standard smart dress or shirt and trousers for work so I guess it'll have to be more of a weekend thing.

These photos were taken in our garden just before Christmas but as I've been so busy recently I haven't had a chance to post this.

I went for a casual and relaxed look with this outfit, I do often like to wear colour but I do generally find in the winter I wear a lot of greys and black as you can see from this outfit! I'm wearing my beloved limited edition Nike trainers that I blogged about a while back and I like that they're so eye catching, also because they're iridescent they add an interesting mix of colour to my outfit.

On top I am wearing an oversized grey top with a faux leather trim on the neckline from Zara and my faux fur gilet was bought when from Topshop when I worked for Topman a few years ago. I know that Topshop do have a similar gilet at the moment, it's just a shorter version but also in a variety of colours.

My hat is from Primark which I bought on a whim, I do love a hat and saw this when I was browsing around and fell in love with it. I love the shape and because it is grey it goes with most things. I wear it quite a lot so I'm glad I got it. The leggings are again from Zara (one of my favourite stores, that I also used to work for!), they have a faux leather panel running down the side of the leg and I thought they went nicely with the leather trim on my top. I've literally worn these to death and they are a little tatty now so probably should get rid of them soon but I just love them too much as they go with lots of outfits and they're so comfy!

Lastly I went for gold jewellery, I always feel a bit naked if I'm not wearing any. I have a slightly excessive amount of costume jewellery, again mainly because of years of working in retail! My sister Meghan makes jewellery (see a post on it here...) and the necklace I am wearing was one she made. You can probably tell by now that I love a bit of a holographic/iridescent item! Every time I've worn this necklace I've had compliments on it and it's even nicer when you can tell them that your sister made it! My ring is from Topshop and my watch is Michael Kors, part of the limited edition 100 Series. I am so happy with this watch, I bought it a few months ago as a treat to myself and I love the face as it has a world map on it. The reason for this is that for each watch sold from the 100 Series, 100 children in in hunger sticken areas received a meal, so not only is the watch nice to look at, it's doing good and helping out the less fortunate. You can get it in rose gold and silver too.

Let me know what you think, would you have styled this outfit differently?

A picture paints a thousand words...

For Christmas I got the thing that was at the top of my list- a polaroid camera! I love taking pictures and I am always holding my phone in my hand waiting for a perfect opportunity to take a picture. So as you can imagine, over Christmas and New Years I took lots of photos and I was thinking of more interesting ways to display them rather than just in an album. So I decided to make a line of my polaroid pictures. For this I just used some string and some cute pegs from paper chase.

I love capturing special moments and I think polaroid pictures give such a nice effect.

What was your favourite Christmas present? Let me know in the comments!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

On 19th December, it was my 18th birthday! I was so excited during the build up to it, as I knew my sisters were up to something. In the morning I opened my presents. I had no clue what I was receiving as I didn't know what I wanted. I received a Gold Apple iPad Mini, which was a big surprise, money for my savings account, a leather Ted Baker handbag, a grey faux fur gilet from Next, lots of jewellery and vouchers/money from family. My birthday involved having a chilled day, before going out to my organised party in the evening. I wore a navy chiffon dress from New Look, which looked lovely on. We had a private room booked in The Swan in West Malling which held the whole family as well as friends. We had a delicious 3 course meal. I had many surprises throughout the night which was organised by my sisters and my Mum and Dad. This included a slide show of old photos, a video montage of birthday messages from friends and family, a poem, an ode to my life and a photo memory book.

My cake was amazing as it was made by Sally 4 Cakes. She makes cakes which reflect on people's personalities. She made a cake which revolved around my jewellery making. It included an icing sculpture of me sitting on a jewellery box, with a variety of my own jewellery creations.

My birthday celebrations didn't stop there. On the Saturday my sisters & I went for dinner in Zizzi's. We then went to Browns Bar so I could order my first alcoholic drink. I had a Raspberry Collins cocktail. On Monday 22nd, me & my friends went to TGI Fridays to have a meal & more cocktails, which was so much fun. I had a really tasty peach juice, sorbet and Archers cocktail which was really nice.

Overall I was very spoilt over my birthday weekend.
